The World Wide Web can be used in a variety of ways to enhance Astronomy teaching and learning. The Web can deliver self-contained multimedia astronomy courses in distance learning applications; the Web can also be used as a supplement to more traditional lecture courses; Web browsers are also powerful tools for organizing individual and collaborative research projects, including undergraduate and graduate student projects. I use the Web in the latter two applications, and will discuss practical issues such as the required time investment, equipment costs, ease of use, efficiency, student reaction, and secure testing. While the Web can provide powerful supplementary teaching tools, it should not replace live, interactive, expert teachers.
