The Fermi Science Support Center (FSSC) provides tools to the scientific community for the analysis of Fermi data, including both the Large-Area
Telescope (LAT) and the Gamma-ray Burst Monitor (GBM). The FSSC will provide
these tools during the Cycle 2 proposal preparation period so that the
tools may be used for planning and writing the proposal. Tools will be
provided which allow the user to simulate observatory orbits and observations, generate simulated data in the appropriate formats, filter the data on user-selected criteria, and perform standard analyses on the selected data. Standard analyses include creation and fitting of spectra and light curves, and statistical analyses of photon events to perform reliable extraction of source parameters. We present procedures for performing each of the major
standard analysis tasks that will be useful during proposal preparation, and
show illustrative results.
