We study the asymmetric nuclear matter using several parametrizations of the Skyrme interaction. We show the behavior of the symmetry energy of these models and analyze the phenomenon of isospin distillation for fixed proton fraction (y = Z/A) and nuclear density. The high density behavior was also checked in the limit of neutron pure and symmetric matter against experimental data obtained in heavy-ion collisions.
