When combined with MDI magnetograms and ground based 10830 images, TRACE EUV observations can be used to study the boundaries of coronal holes with high time resolution. Potential source surface field solutions based on MDI observations (Schrijver et al., ApJ 2005, 628, 501) are overlaid on TRACE images to show the relationships between the photospheric flux, the extrapolated coronal fields and the observed coronal structures. Examples from several TRACE pointing along a long-lived CH on 9-Dec-2000 are used to demonstrate the method. A summary of candidate TRACE observations is presented.
