A light metering technique which is reliable enough to allow six or more interpositive astronomical film copies from different plates to be exposed and batch processed is described. Set up the enlarger to the correct magnification. Meter the light at the easel by placing the light sensitive window of the meter in the sky background portion of the image on the easel, avoiding bright stars and the corners. Hold the meter in the on position for 15 to 20 sec and adjust the lens aperture and voltage (or both) to get a meter reading of 5.2. Expose 10 sec on Kodak Gravure Positive film. Process the film to a Gamma of 0.80. Aim for a D-max of 1.15 to 1.30 in the sky portion of the interpositive.
