A search has been made through Ariel V data for times at which an optical nova was within the field of view of the Rotation Modulation Collimator (Experiment A). Ten orbits of observations in October 1976 coincided with the maximum of nova Vulpeculae which was within the field of view from October 20.83 UT to October 21.53 UT. No significant X-ray flux was detected. The upper limits to the X-ray flux from nova Vulpeculae for each orbit are listed in a table.
