We searched for (C-12)O J = 1-0 emission toward six Vega-like stars but could find no evidence for emission. A typical 3 sigma upper limit is about T*A = 100 mK within a 15 arcsec beam and a 1 km/s velocity resolution. If the circumstellar material has the same composition as the molecular cloud, much stronger CO emission is expected for Epsilon Eri, Alpha Lyr, and Alpha PsA. Except for Epsilon Eri, CO photodissociation by the stellar UV radiation might be able to explain the CO depletion, whereas the CO emission should have been detected for Epsilon Eri as long as the gas-to-dust ratio remains 100. Our upper limit suggests that the gaseous component has dissipated away from the circumstellar ring around Epsilon Eri.
