New calculations have been carried out for the high dielectronic satellite lines of the type 1snl-2l'nl for n greater than or equal to 5 in calcium. These calculations based on hydrogenic wavefunctions offer the advantage of analyticity in the derivation of the energies and transition probabilities, whereas the autoionization rates are obtained from quantum defect theory. The effect of the 3l'nl resonant states on the direct excitation of the Ca XX Ly-alpha doublet has been estimated. The set of new data is used together with previous results for n in the range of 2-5 (Blanchet et al., 1985) to improve the diagnostic capabilities provided by the satellite to resonance line intensities in high temperature plasmas.
