The expressions for the resonance responses of discs with near-circular star orbits under the action of the central bar are obtained. For the quasi-stationary states, the thickness and the pitch angle of the spiral response are proportional to the mean epicycle size ρ . So these spirals have the universal form if the distance from the resonance circle is measured in units of ρ .
