Ultra Compact Dwarfs (UCDs) are a class of systems with properties intermediate between Globular Clusters (GCs) and nucleated dwarf galaxies. To date only two UCDs have been confirmed to reside outside of galaxy clusters. We present the discovery of three more UCDs located in field/group environments. Using SOAR/Goodman spectroscopy we have confirmed two UCDs around the central Elliptical of a small group and a further UCD around an isolated S0 galaxy. Preliminary age indicators provide hints that the stellar populations of these UCDs may be younger than those generally found in cluster UCDs. In addition, the UCD associated with the S0 galaxy is significantly overluminous relative to predictions of a simple scenario in which UCDs represent the bright extreme of the GC luminosity function. We discuss the properties of field/group UCDs in the context of this scenario that links GCs and UCDs vs. a scenario in which UCDs are the result of the tidal stripping of nucleated dwarf galaxies.
