The UK Schmidt telescope has obtained 200 images of comet Halley during
1985/1986. These images present a wealth of ground-based observational
data. Four main areas of research are currently in progress, including
determination of water production rates, analysis of dust and plasma
tail formations and identification of near nuclear features.
