The use of the photometric method to determine the interstellar extinction toward novae is proposed. The (U-B) and (B-V) stability stage of novae just after maximum brightness and the influence of the radiation of the ejected shell and emission lines on (U-B) and (B-V) are examined. The relationship between (U-B) and (B-V) mean values during the stability stage is determined. The proposed method is used to determine the interstellar extinction, A(v), for 23 novae. The method requires that UBV photometry be performed one to one and a half months after maximum brightness and predicts interstellar extinction with an accuracy of 0.05-0.20 m.
