Experimental data are presented on the form of the envelope of echo signals arising in the reverse-oblique sounding of the ionosphere by short radio pulses. It is found that the form of the energy response of reverse-oblique sounding channels and variations of this response with time and frequency are determined mainly by the structure and instability of the electron density distribution.
