We have constructed V band light curve templates for SN Ib and Ic,based on data from the literature. We are using these templates in the computation of rates for the Berkeley Automated Supernova Search. We confirm earlier indications that SNe Ib and Ic show distinct late-time photometric behaviour. The differences have implications for both the progenitors and the SN rates. We also consider a number of other systematic sources of error, such as choice of absolute magnitudes at maximum, detector spectral response, and detection threshold, in the measurement of the rate.
