The possibility of using Type Ia supernovae to probe cosmic peculiar velocities is explored in two ways. First, the dispersion in the peak absolute magnitudes of SNe Ia is calculated on the basis of several models of the local peculiar motions (a pure Hubble flow, a Virgocentric infall model, a Great Attractor model, and a model based on IRAS clusters). Second, the distances of the SN Ia parent galaxies are obtained by assuming SNe Ia are perfect standard candles, and their peculiar velocities are determined and compared to the peculiar velocities that are predicted by various velocity models. Both approaches support the existence of a Virgocentric flow, but the SN Ia sample presently available is too sparse and too local to test for large scale flows which may be driven by a Great Attractor or by the IRAS clusters. An appropriately enlarged SN Ia sample cloud, however, provide an independent, low resolution probe of the peculiar velocity field on such scales.
