We report photometric and spectroscopic observations for type Ia SN1997E. Data were obtained at the Fred Whipple Lawrence Observatory 1.2 meter and 1.5 meter telescopes over the course of an 80 day sample period. UBVRI band pass results support early predictions that the supernova has a fast-declining nature. A multicolor light-curve shape method distance analysis was performed on the BVRI light curves to determine distance modulus, luminosity correction, and extinction terms. Spectroscopic analysis of host galaxy NGC 2258 produced a Cosmic Microwave Background velocity of 4088 km s(-1) and a redshift value of z=0.0137. Subsequent placement of the supernova data on the RPK96 Hubble diagram yields an individual offset for 1997E of 1.8 sigma from the fit. SN1997E data produce an H_o value of 57 +/- 3 km s(-1) Mpc(-1) (+/- 6 total error) which is compared with the Riess et al. statistical value of 64 +/- 3 km s(-1) Mpc(-1) (+/- 6 total error). Our U band photometry is not inconsistent with that of other SNe Ia's and is of great value for future comparisons.
