The paper discusses the identification of emission and absorption features of supernovae observed approximately 8 d after the explosion. An empirical distribution T(upsilon) is determined from the continuous energy distribution in the UV. Approximate abundances of Si, S, Fe and possibly Co are determined for the supernovae; it is shown that the three former elements are more abundant in supernovae than in the sun; cobalt, however, is less abundant than iron and corresponds to a mass of less than 0.11 solar masses.
