Avishay Gal-Yam and Keren Sharon report for the CCCP: We have observed SN 2005cy (Sehgal, Newton and Puckett 2005; CBET #180) with the DBSP spectrograph mounted on the Hale 200" telescope at Palomar Observatory on 2005 July 16.33 UT. A preliminary reduction shows a weak, moderately wide Halpha line superposed on a blue featureless continuum. We therefore conclude that SN 2005cy is likely a young type IIn SN.
