Scientific paper

The paper reports the discovery of a new hard X-ray source in the vicinity of GX 5-1 by the orbital X-ray observatory Granat. The measured spectrum extends from 4 to 300 keV. The spectrum of GRS1758-258 is quite similar to that of 1E1740.7-2942, the only bright hard X-ray source detected by the SIGMA telescope in the region of the Galactic center. The data suggest that both sources can be considered as black hole candidates.
