The nonrelativistic problem of two bodies interacting through a Newtonian potential in conical space around an infinite straight cosmic string is considered. Attention is given to the kinematic effects caused by the global structure of the conical space, which in principle make it possible to observe cosmic strings in different types of gravitating systems.
