We present the twenty-year optical variability light curve for the BL Lac type quasar PKS 1749+096 and investigate the characteristic timescales of variations. Observations were obtained as part of the intensive blazar variability monitoring program at the Colgate University Foggy Bottom Observatory (FBO). PKS 1749+096 underwent strong optical outbursts (R 13.8) during the summers of 2007 and 2008, reaching its brightest optical level in three decades, and exhibited an inactive period during summer 2009. Comparison of SMA millimeter wavelength radio observations with the optical light curve, using DCF and ACF analysis, indicates the radio variations may be correlated with the optical outbursts. We gratefully acknowledge support for student research through an REU grant to the Keck Northeast Astronomy Consortium from the National Science Foundation, the NASA / New York Space Grant, and the Schlichting Student Research Fund at Colgate University.
