This report covers investigations of atmospheric turbulence effects related to optical imaging. Three specific subjects are discussed. The first is the initial seeing survey carried out in 1962-63 at the ARPA Maui Observation Station (AMOS) on the summit of Haleakala, Maui, Hawaii. These measurements involved the visual observation of planetary features using a 12.5 inch Newtonian reflector. It was concluded that the presence and/or operation of the observatory has disturbed the excellent natural seeing characteristics which may have existed at the site. In order to provide additional information on this subject the authors carried out a series of measurements of the differential angle of arrival variance at AMOS during August 1974. Stellar sources, a seven inch telescope and a Hartmann test procedure were used to collect the data. The final subject is a study of local turbulence control practices used by the astronomical community.
