The free-free continuum emission at 20.5 and 92 cm from the H II region W40 = S64 is mapped, using the VLA with angular resolutions of 12 to 46 arcsec. Unlike previous detections of the 6 x 3-arcmin continuum from the vicinity of W40, which were made at low angular resolutions of about 3 arcmin, the higher angular resolution of the present observations reveals structural details in ascending from the surrounding low-density interstellar medium/diffuse edge of the H II region/molecular cloud edge to the SW, over an angular distance of about 6 arcmin. An incomplete shell approximately 1.7 arcmin in diameter is suggested by the 20.5-cm data. Some enhanced and patchy optical emission is seen on the UK Schmidt survey red plate. The properties of the 1.7-arcmin incomplete shell are derived using a 3D code employing about 5000 cells in a spherical volume. A shell density of about 440/cu cm is calculated.
