Vertical profiles of ozone concentration above the Observatoire de Haute-Provence on Mt. Chiran from June 9 to June 19, 1981 were obtained using both the conventional Umkehr and short Umkehr (DeLuisi, 1979) methods, as part of the French Intercomparison Ozone Campaign. The conventional and short methods give 9 and 13-layer profiles, respectively. The variability of the ozone concentration during the period of observation is found to be small in the mesosphere and stratosphere, large in the troposphere, and largest (by as much as a factor of four) at the tropopause.
