The sensitivities of different cosmic ray stations, characterized by different shapes of the acceptance cone, to the tridiurnal variation in recorded cosmic-ray intensity due to the free-space anisotropy are studied. A theoretical expression is derived for the tridiurnal wave which depends on three parameters. Available data for five cosmic ray stations are analyzed by power spectrum analysis to predict the characteristics of the anisotropy. Estimation of the three parameters is carried out by minimum variance analysis between experimentally observed tridiurnal wave amplitudes and theoretical ones.
