Scientific paper

The paper is concerned with the problem of transit of cosmic ray muons through a medium whose properties have not been fully determined. It is shown that, in such a problem, a statistical ensemble of media should be introduced which would include all possible medium realizations with a specified probability. The experimental results should be compared against the total distribution of the theoretical results produced by the selected ensemble of media.
