After induced tearing and multiple coalescence, the present 2D compressible MHD simulations of current-sheet dynamics influenced by multiple anomalous resistivity areas and slight asymmetries first form, and then accelerate, a plasmoid. X-points drive the dynamical evolution toward transient reconnection geometry. Attention is given to the Lundquist number dependence of current density extrema, plasmoid bulk velocity, and maximum reconnection rate.
