Pointing Accuracy: Telescope Mounts

Scientific paper

Practical expressions are given for a collimation error when a spectrograph slit is displaced from the instrument rotator centre. Pointing errors at the Nasmyth focus are discussed when the tertiary mirror is displaced and bent. Then, a method is given how to place a guide probe, when the coordinates of a guide star are given. A rotation angle of the image of the primary mirror on the Shack-Hartmann image plane is calculated when the rotator is continuously driven.
