Titan's atmosphere mainly consists of molecular nitrogen and methane. Solar extreme ultraviolet and x-ray radiation and energetic electrons from Saturn's magnetosphere interact with the upper atmosphere producing an ionosphere. The ionosphere of Titan provides an important link between external momentum and energy inputs from the Sun or from Saturn's magnetosphere and the neutral atmosphere. Data being collected from several instruments onboard the Cassini Orbiter including INMS, CAPS, MAG, MIMI, and RPWS, as well as some recent modeling studies are now starting to contribute to an improved understanding of Titan's upper atmosphere and plasma environment. A broad review of this topic will be presented.
