Effects of tidal forces in the bound system consisting of the Galaxy, its companions, and associated intergalactic matter (the hypergalaxy) are investigated. Tidal radii and effective perigalactic distances are calculated for the dwarf elliptical companion galaxies on the basis of two mass-distribution models wherein: (1) the entire mass of the hypergalaxy is concentrated in the Galaxy and amounts to 150 billion solar masses and (2) the mass of the hypergalaxy is distributed between the visible Galaxy (100 billion solar masses) and a corona of 1.1 trillion solar masses. The calculations show that both the tidal radii and the perigalactic distances are insensitive to the adopted mass-distribution model. It is therefore concluded that tidal effects cannot be used as a test for choosing between the different mass-distribution models.
