Data from a series of borehole tiltmeters located in the Charlevoix seismic region of Quebec were analyzed for evidence of tectonically related signals. Special consideration was given to long-term nontidal tilt and the linear and nonlinear tidal response with emphasis on the time variation of the tidal admittance. Strongly coherent time variations in the tidal admittance among the observations of all the major tidal constituents are shown to be generated by corresponding variations in marine tidal loading in the St. Lawrence estuary. Diurnal band variations are closely correlated with the tide gage data. The level of earthquake activity in the Charlevoix seismic zone throughout the four years of the tiltmeter experiment was low, so that no significant tilt anomalies were expected or were undeniably detected.
