The analysis of observations of whitelight corona performed aboard OSO-7 gives evidence for the existence of peculiar coronal ribbon structures which may be observed at the limb as coronal streams. It is found that penetration through the surface, formed by the prolongation of these structures into the interplanetary space, is accompanied by change of polarity of the interplanetary magnetic field. The sector structure observed is the intersection of this three-dimensional shape with the ecliptic plane. A large-scale three-dimensional structure of the interplanetary magnetic field which existed in May-July 1973 has been found, and its connection with several phenomena in the solar atmosphere is established.
