The paper presents results of the simulation of longitudinal effects in the equatorial F-region produced by the action of the diurnal mode of the thermospheric wind. It is shown that wind-induced entrainment of plasma can lead to considerable longitudinal differences in the behavior of the F-layer critical frequency f0F due to differences in geographic and magnetic coordinates. The meridional component of the thermospheric wind is most efficient in producing longitudinal differences in f0F.
