We investigate the thermal and chemical state of protoplanetary disks
near dead zones via reactive-flow radiation hydrodynamics simulations.
We discuss the thermal instability of planet-forming regions of the
disk, and present constraints on their chemistry and the resulting
planetary composition in or near the habitable zone.
