Solar X-Ray Bursts

The Yohkoh/HXT data in the event on July 14, 2000 are studied in different sources and time intervals on the basis of Huang (2000). The low energy cutoff of nonthermal electrons is around 20 keV from the data of L and M1 bands, and 30 keV from the data in M1 and M2 bands with error bar of 3-5 keV. The low energy cutoff is decreased during the burst, which is more evident from the data of L and M1 bands (26.5 keV - 18 keV). It may be explained by the thermal component is gradually dominated in the decay phase of hard X-ray flares. The low energy cutoff calculated from the data of M1 and M2 bands is fluctuated with a period of one minute, which may support the periodic acceleration in solar flares. The amplitude of the energy fluctuation is about 5 keV. The position of an extrapolated magnetic rope is comparable with the bright soft X-ray arcade as well as the looptop hard X-ray sources. One footpoint of the magnetic rope is located in the strongest source of M1, M2, and H bands, which may be caused by both thermal and nonthermal emissions.
