The perturbations in Phobos' rotation due to the attraction of aspherical Mars and the sun were derived semianalytically assuming the presence of free librations. Emphasis was placed on resonances and free and forced term coupling. It is concluded that Phobos rotates around an axis almost perpendicular to the orbital plane. Its equator inclination is slightly larger than that of the orbit and independent of the flattening beta. The principal term in libration in longitude is found to be sensitive to flattening gamma. The forced parts of libration components were compared with the theoretical results by Chapront-Touze and Borderies and Yoder (1990).
