New SCF-CI calculations of the photodissociation probability of the CN radical both with and without Rydberg functions in the basis set are presented. They have shown that there is no Rydberg state under the interstellar cutoff limit (13.6 eV above the ground state v = 0). A value of 7.4 x 10 to the -10th/s has been determined, which is in close agreement with the interstellar-medium models.
