Electron density distributions in the equatorial ionosphere are calculated by using AFRL's low-latitude ionosphere model (PBMOD). The F region average values of the vertical plasma drift velocity, which are measured by the Jicamarca incoherent scatter radar, drive the model. Other inputs to the model are specified by well-known theoretical and empirical models. The electron density distributions are used to calculate the latitudinal profiles of the radiance of OI 135.6 nm emissions. The profiles are then compared with those measured by GUVI on TIMED satellite.
