We present early results of the stellar population analysis of a sample of 4 high metalicity Starburst galaxies. The galaxies were observed in the optical using Keck/LRIS and in the IR using UKIRT/UIST. The optical spectra cover the wavelength range 3000 - 7000 Angstrons while the IR spectra cover the range 1.4 - 2.5 micrometers.
Some of the galaxies show a very clear Wolf-Rayet bump around 4686 Angstrons (He II) indicating the presence of Wolf-Rayet stars. A comparison between the optical and IR spectra and an estimation of the ionizing output are presented.
By using a stellar population synthesis code that we developed we were able to subtract the underlying older stellar population from our galaxies. The resulting spectra are dominated by a pure young-age (10Gyr) stellar component. In these spectra the Wolf-Rayet features are even more pronounced than in the composite (Young + old population) spectra which showed a diluted evidence of the Wolf-Rayet feature.
The synthesis also provides a good estimate of the relative importance of the young, intermediate and old stellar populations components to the integrated observed spectra.
