High angular resolution CO and (C-13)O observations of the W3 molecular cloud are presented. Within the core at a radius of 0.6 pc, high-velocity line wings are observed to cover a full width of 20 km/s. At high resolution the red and blue wings are observed to arise from opposite sides of the core. It is suggested that the central region is undergoing either a rapid, differential rotation or an asymmetric radial motion. The 'absorption' dips previously noted in the (C-12)O emission from the core source are probably due to the much larger W3 molecular cloud rather than radiative transfer effects within the core itself.
