A new criterion is introduced for the classification of the apparent ring-shaped galaxies on the basis of the morphology of the main bodies. For this purpose, a list of probable ring-shaped galaxies was prepared based on visual inspection of 56 film copies of the J SRC/ESO survey. The objects found were also classified according to the Few and Madore (1986) subdivision system.
