Scientific paper

The paper describes the Venera-11 and Venera-12 experiments which involved the investigation of the Venus stratosphere on the basis of accelerometer measurements made in the course of aerodynamic braking in the preparachute part of descent. The accelerometer data were used to construct vertical profiles of pressure, density, and temperature. It is suggested that these data can be used to construct models of the Venus stratosphere and mesosphere, taking into account diurnal-latitudinal variations.
