An examination is conducted of the extended low temperature and density H II regions S54 and S142. A tentative model is proposed for the former, whose structure is envisioned as a sheet of ionized material which may be the surface of a molecular cloud from which the H II region has originated. If CO were to be detected in S54, a determination of its velocities would be a valuable contribution to the understanding of the H II region. Observational results for S142 suggest that it may be composed of comoving H II/H I and molecular sheets. The sections of those sheets which are facing the HD 215835, LSII 57.90 and LSII 57.83 exciting stars will be radiatively ionized and emit the observed forbidden N II emission lines.
