The possibility of using satellite-sounding data to analyze wave motions and inhomogeneous structure in the upper ionosphere is assessed. Alouette-1 data are used to obtain new statistical characteristics (the variance, the cross correlation coefficient, and the time correlation interval of fluctuations) of the vertical and latitudinal distribution of midlatitude inhomogeneities of electron density.
