Six spectrograms of the peculiar variable star KR Aurigae are evaluated which were obtained over the wavelength range from 3700 to 5000 A with a dispersion of 92 A/mm. The H-beta line profile is found to provide evidence that material is being accreted by the star at a mean velocity of 3200 km/s. Polarization measurements and UBV estimates are reported which indicate that KR Aur might be a black hole. The distance of KR Aur is estimated to be 300 + or - 150 pc in terms of the black-hole model of Bisnovatyi-Kogan and Ruzmaikin (1974).
