Robotic Telescopes provide a unique opportunity for the general public, especially school children, to get direct experience of the excitement of science and perform their own research. Here we describe the National Schools Observatory - a UK project to bring data from large robotic telescopes such as the Liverpool Telescope directly into the classroom. In this way, we can use students fascination with astronomy to enhance teaching and promote science as a whole. As well as the technical aspects of the project, we discuss the importance of dealing directly with teachers and students in the creation of the necessary resources. We also outline the development of the Observatory as a focus for collaborative projects between students in countries all over the world. The National Schools' Observatory is funded by the UK Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council and the European Social Fund of the EU.
