The transition emission of acoustic gravity waves and of a surface Lamb wave by a linear mass source moving over the vertical in an isothermal atmosphere above solid ground is analyzed. Simple representations are obtained for the structure of the volume disturbance and the surface wave front. Losses of energy from a moving source into the surface wave radiation are found.
