Every astronomer knew how difficult the observation of the July 22 1990 solar eclipse would be, because the meteorological statistics of the lunar shadow trajectory were very pessimistic. Facing that problem, and because I am both an amateur astronomer and an engineer in aeronautics, I decided to carry out an operation to observe that eclipse from an airplane. The results of the expedition are described.
