Basic features of solar cosmic-ray events are discussed using the solution of a three-dimensional diffusion equation of solar cosmic-ray propagation. The equation is derived on the basis of a new spiral coordinate system for the large-scale interplanetary spiral magnetic field. The solution depends on the solar magnetic longitude of the flare producing cosmic rays. The results agree well with observations.
