A photon-counting photometer capable of observing simultaneously a variable star, a comparison star and the sky background has been installed on the 60-cm Reflector of Beijing Observatory, Xinglong Station. It has a special purpose computer to make real time reduction of the data from the three channels and the result is printed out or, additionally for rapid phenomena, displayed on CRT or chart recorder. The photometer has already been in use over several years and has proved itself up to the appointed task.
Du Bo-tian, Wang Xi-he, Pan Yu, Zhang Ji-tong, Yi Ji-tang and Tu Nai-qi also participated in the present project.
